About Us

Dusty was raised in a family with a passion for horses, roping, and the country way of life. As a child, growing up in the small West Texas town of Matador, Texas, he was surrounded by a community with deep roots in the cowboy way of life. From a very young age, Dusty spent time on a horse daily working with his family. It was of great importance to both of Dusty’s parents that the skills of horsemanship be passed on to their sons. When the days work was complete, his family enjoyed team roping together. 

As many team ropers do, Dusty spent the majority of his early years roping out of the head box. He has taken great pride in learning to consistently rope, as well as handle cattle for his heeler. After years of heading steers, Dusty decided he wanted to learn to heel. However, he soon discovered that scheduling difficulties made it challenging to always find a header to turn steers for practice. As a man not easily beaten, Dusty began dreaming of a tool to allow heelers to practice alone on live cattle. A tool not to replace a header, but to give heelers an opportunity to rope even when a partner was not available. Dusty has always enjoyed inventing things, and spent hours building and designing products to enhance his own businesses, so this new challenge presented an opportunity to utilize those inventing skills. Dusty combined his knowledge of heading with his dream of heeling to create the ultimate practice heeling roping device. The Heel Master is this dream made reality. It solves general roping practice challenges while enhancing the sport of Team Roping. 

Dusty is the owner of Heel Master, LLC. He and his wife, Lindsey, live in Childress, Texas with their three boys. The family enjoys spending time together attending team ropings and Junior rodeo events. They are excited to offer the public and fellow Team Ropers a quality product to enhance the sport.
